The new Buon Ma Thuot ATC Tower was put into official operation

The new Buon Ma Thuot ATC Tower was built on an area of 1,500m2 within the area of Buon Ma Thuot Airport. This is one of the key and significant projects for the development of Buon Ma Thuot Airport. The project has a total investment of over 74 billion VND, funded by VATM's development investment capital. The construction items include an operator block of 03 floors and 01 semi-basement, with a construction area of 1,734 m² directly connected to the command tower.

The new Buon Ma Thuot ATC Center, equipped with modern and advanced technology, will enhance ATC capabilities and meet the demand of aviation development. The 37m high ATC Tower is designed with 12 floors and a cabin area of 60 m². The entire system of specialized equipment of the Radio, including: VHF A/G radio communication system, VCCS voice switching system, digital recording system, GPS clock system, transmission equipment system, console system,... are invested synchronously and modernly to meet ICAO standards.

Along with the infrastructure and synchronous equipment at Buon Ma Thuot Airport, the ATC Tower will meet capacity of 15 flights per hour, equivalent to approximately 131,000 flights per year.

The new Buon Ma Thuot ATC Tower will replace the existing control tower. The modern equipment will enhance the visibility, improving the capability to manage flight operations within the controlled airspace. This meets the increasing demand for air transport in the region and ensures the capacity to handle future growth in air traffic volumes. The Tower will also ensure the safety, regularity and efficiency in flight operations of all civil and military flights.

The transition to the new Buon Ma Thuot Air Traffic Control Center has enhanced the reputation of the Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) in providing ANS services, playing a significant role in both the economic and political aspects of the Viet Nam’s aviation industry.

This event has contributed for the economic development, national security and defense in the Central Highlands region in general and of Dak Lak Province in particular.

The construction aligns with the goals of the aviation transport development plan for the period 2020-2030, in which, Buon Ma Thuot airport is a 4D civil airport, supporting precise landing capabilities for CAT I and CAT II.
